Danni and Charlie do craft

Two ladies and a whole lotta wool

Prima Makes Review and a Handmade Ami Feature

Prima

Hello crafters,

As some of you will already know, I set up a little Etsy shop called Handmade Ami a while back selling some of my textile jewellery and paper craft kits (there’s a post all about it here). I have to be honest and say I’ve found Etsy a bit of a challenge. Getting items on your store is more time consuming than I gave it credit for and with a full time job it’s a real struggle to find the time to stay on top of it. It made me feel a little demoralised as I was so excited when I first set it up, but watching those slow viewing numbers and even slower sales made me wonder if it was worth it.

Then in December, I got an email from someone over at Prima Makes – they had seen one of my paper craft kits on this blog and they wanted to feature it in their 14 brilliant kits feature!!! I was  over the moon, what a compliment! It came out early February and naturally I had to buy myself a copy. Here it is:

Feature

I’m not sure how regularly Prima Makes comes out, I think it may be quarterly, but I have to admit I really like this magazine. I bought the Christmas issue last year and found lots of inspiring ideas, but this issue is even better! It’s packed with all sorts of lovely ideas, book reviews, shop reviews and features; there’s something for nearly everyone. There are even recipes!

Little knits

Shop feature

For only £4.99 it really is great value for money. I hope it’s something they are going to start releasing more often as I have such an addiction to craft magazines and someone needs to come in and fill the Crafty Magazine hole (did you hear that issue 11 will be their last?! I’m so sad!)

That’s very cool – congratulations! I hope that gives you a boost with your Etsy shop. I didn’t know that Crafty magazine was folding; I guess there’s been such an upsurge in craft mags lately, there are bound to be some that don’t continue.

    • Thank you! I do hope so 🙂 yes I was really surprised it was folding, it’s only been around a year! But you’re right there’s a fair bit of competition out there
